Deciding on the right security setup can be a difficult choice to make, with advancements in technology and physical security becoming more responsive and reliant, both have clear advantages in how they can protect your asset. The options available to you are comprehensive to say the least, do you go with a digital option or opt for a manned surveillance using guards? To help you find the right solution for your needs, we take a look at what each option offers.
Physical Security
Manned, or physical security, has always been a classic option for protecting property, and can give you much more than simply having some guards on site. It offers you a real presence at your property, one that many prefer over having technology for the added peace of mind and deterrent effect it has on criminals looking to access the site.
Unlike a technological solution, guards will also have the advantage of being able to physically catch any criminals at the property upon detection, simply down to their presence on site. They will also be able to carry out full property inspections, from the perimeter to the building’s interior, and deliver a detailed report on what has been checked, if there is any suspicious activity or signs of vandalism, intrusion and theft.
With physical security, when we look at what makes it different to a technological solution, it all simply boils down to one major advantage and that is having that human presence on site. This is the one thing that technology simply cannot offer, and is the main thing to take away when deciding on what is right for you.

Technological Security
What is technological security? The best examples of this would be CCTV, and Multi-purpose Alarms (MPA’s) using motion sensors. Thanks to developments in the technology used for them, they are an incredibly efficient and discreet method of protecting your property, plus you can ensure that specific areas you want protected will be through specific positioning of equipment.
Like having physical security, technology offers it’s own unique benefits in security. CCTV will record video evidence for you, which can then be submitted to you the following day in a report. With MPA’s, an alarm will sound if one of the multiple sensors are triggered, providing a deterrent for criminals. When you pair these with a response centre, they will be able to send out the appropriate response to any crime or damage occurring, which can lead to a faster response and a higher arrest rate.
In comparison, the biggest advantage to you in using a technological solution over anything else is that it can provide you with a true 24/7 monitoring option. Using technology will give you a fixed pair of eyes where you want them, recorded round the clock, and unlike guard patrols, will never require a break.

What about both?
As you can see now, there is clear advantages to having a physical and technological security solution, instead of a question of either, why not include both in your security setup? It is entirely possible to have this, and we regularly supply this to our clients. Both professional and affordable, we understand that for most they will want to have the best of each option.
