BBC News reported a story this week about the amazing number of raids on electrical substations – apparently over 1200 of them in the last 4 years! Why are thieves risking their lives in these daring raids? The answer is quite simple – metal theft. The problem is being tackled through new legislation that will make it illegal for scrap metal dealers to accept cash payments, and they will have a duty to record and identify metal sellers.
